About
A misquoted song title says - "What a difference a Dan makes". Well okay, that's maybe taking things a bit too far but my wife, Carol-Anne, and I had our first dance to the properly titled version of the song (What a Difference a Day makes), so it's a song that has a strong resonance with me. I also saw the misquote on a t-shirt and obviously saw the funny side of things. But in reality, I do want to make a difference in my life and of course, I want that to be a positive difference. Whether that is with my family, friends, or the work I am blessed to be involved in, I want to know that my efforts have made a difference for the better. And that is the driver behind Community Dan as a brand, and as the foundation for all I do.
I'm Dan Rous, husband to Carol-Anne since September 2004 and dad to Kathryn (July 2005), Hannah (February 2008) and Isla (April 2015.) Together, we live and work in the Camelon area of Falkirk in Central Scotland with our crazy Cocker Spaniel, Scout, who joined us in July 2021. Since I moved to Scotland in December 2002, I have been involved in Community and Social Enterprises across various Scottish Communities, including working in, developing, managing, setting up, and supporting a range of activities.
Most of the work I've done has had a faith element to it, but not all. However, as a Christian, brought up in The Salvation Army and now serving within the Vineyard Church, my faith underpins everything I do. What that boils down to, is that I want my work to enable people and communities to be what they were made to be. I want to walk alongside people and communities, helping them to develop their skills, self-belief, passions and more, so that their lives, and those of the people they also walk alongside, will be better as a result.
So now that I am working freelance, I can be free to support even more projects either as Community Development, Faith and Ministry Development, or Church Building Development. This includes start-up, consolidation, development, community engagement, mission planning, funding, property lease/acquisition, trading, governance, marketing and much more. And if I can't help you specifically, I can call on the services of a range of contacts who share my passion and will help to get you to where you need to be. The pages of this site will tell you more but nothing beats a good chat, so drop me an email at info@communitydan.co.uk and let's see what we can get up to.
Aside of all this, I also get involved in Broadcast Ministry and enjoy being able to spread the Word of God further in this way. I'm also available for leading Church services or speaking at your Community Development event. And to help us all, I've also included a Daily Devotional on this site, courtesy of TodayDevotional.com
So again, please get in touch for a chat. I look forward to hearing from you.
