  • St Michael’s Linlithgow – Cross House Project (Current)

    • Creating a Master Plan for the development and future use of this A Listed building, including consulting with key stakeholders, other local groups, and the wider public through one-to-one meetings and open information gathering sessions.

 

Life Church, Edinburgh (Current)

Funding and Governance Support for Church Building Development and increase of Community Outreach work.

Veterans Chaplaincy Scotland (Current)

Funding Support including processing of applications

Church of Scotland Ministries Council(Current)

Community Audit work for St Michael's Parish Church, Linlithgow, specifically focusing on Avonbridge, Bridgend and Torphichen.

Pollok Baptist Church

Delivery of training session to brand new funding team.

Church of Scotland - Faith Action Department

I supported the national office of the Church of Scotland as a Funding and Enterprise Officer on a freelance basis for 12 months, developing various project plans and funding applications along the way.

Money Advice Scotland

I provided mentoring, support and guidance for their external funding needs.

Work Place Chaplaincy Scotland

I worked as their Funding Officer in the latter months of their existence.  Sadly I got into the role too late to be able to save this organisation.

Our Place Camelon and Tamfourhill

Working as a Community Coach, my roles was to work with the local community to help develop the skills and belief in people to enable them to take forward various Community Development initiatives.

  • Built and maintained a new website and social media presence.

  • Designed and implemented a new logo and marketing strategy.

  • Made this new organistion known to the local community (made harder as this was during Covid lockdowns!)

  • Helped create 2 new community led organisations.

  • Co-Facilitated the THRIVE to Keep Well development programme for 10 local women.

  • Developed and ran a Creative Writing Training Course.

  • Secured Funding to create 2 Community Tool Sheds.

  • Secured Funding and Development Support for cycling initiatives.

  • Supported 6 organisations with funding strategy and applications.

  • Ran a large community event in a local park, bringing in various local organisations to help make it a great day.

  • Co-Facilitated a Scottish focused Asset Based Community Development online conference.

Greyfriars Charteris Centre

Working as a Development Manager, my role was to facilitate the redevelopment of a suite of 120 year old buildings, and to ensure the Centre was a resource for the local community.

  • After understanding the history, developed the WHY for the Centre, around Wellbeing and Enterprise

  • Increased activity in the Centre from 10 hours a week to over 40 hours a week.

  • Built and maintained a new website and social media presence

  • Designed and implemented a new logo and marketing strategy

  • Facilitated the redevelopment of a former flat linked in the building.

  • Secured office tenants to fill the 10 available office spaces

  • Facilitated a Tendering programme to select a Design Team

  • Secured relevant funding

  • Facilitated the establishment of the project as a SCIO

  • Developed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Edinburgh for mutually beneficial support

  • Built strong community connections

Falkirk Salvation Army Furniture Project

Working as a regional Development Manager, my role was to support individual local churches who has a desire to create a trading activity that would support their local outreach.

  • Sourced suitable properties and liaised with agents/landlord

  • Undertook budget forecasting and business planning

  • Negotiated a deal on the lease for the premises preferred by the local team

  • Organised the refurbishment of the premises including contracting Community Payback to do some of the work in order to keep costs down but also to enable conversations with potential volunteers.

  • Led recruitment of initial staff.

  • Undertook initial training and orientation of initial staff in conjunction with the local team.

  • Organised an official opening including inviting dignitaries and media.

  • Continued remote adhoc support for the project as it developed.

Hawick Salvation Army Community Store

Working as a regional Development Manager, my role was to support individual local churches who has a desire to create a trading activity that would support their local outreach.

  • Sourced suitable properties and liaised with agents/landlord

  • Undertook budget forecasting and business planning

  • Negotiated a deal on the lease for the premises preferred by the local team.

  • Liaised with the landlord who agreed to 'white box' refurb the chosen shop.

  • Led recruitment of initial staff.

  • Undertook initial training and orientation of initial staff in conjunction with the local team.

  • Organised an official opening including inviting dignitaries and media.

  • Continued remote adhoc support for the project as it developed.

Berwick Salvation Army Furniture Project

Working as a regional Development Manager, my role was to support individual local churches who has a desire to create a trading activity that would support their local outreach.

  • This project was in existence already, so I continued to provide development support for them.

  • Assisted in recruitment of new staff

  • Provided policy/procedure support and updates

  • Assisted in negotiations to take on a neighbouring unit as the project expanded.

  • Continued remote adhoc support

Glenrothes Salvation Army Furniture Project

Working as a regional Development Manager, my role was to support individual local churches who has a desire to create a trading activity that would support their local outreach.

  • Sourced suitable properties and liaised with agents/landlord

  • Undertook budget forecasting and business planning

  • Negotiated a deal on the lease for the premises preferred by the local team.

  • Organised the set up of the warehouse including acquiring various free items to assist with this and mobilising local volunteers.

  • Led recruitment of initial staff.

  • Undertook initial training and orientation of initial staff in conjunction with the local team.

  • Continued remote adhoc support for the project as it developed.

Tayport Community Trust

Working as a Community Development Manager, my role was to develop plans for a proposed multi-faceted Community Hub

  • Undertook various Community Consultations in different formats

  • Updated and monitored the evolving Business Plan

  • Created a funding strategy

  • Worked as needed to bring in the required £2.1m funding including linking with potential funders and submitting applications

  • Created fresh and new marketing strategies including developing a new website.
